Lyrics

Taakataan da mull naiyo saanu apni
We don't value our own powers

Appa zaaya karan lagge-yaan umraan

We are wasting away our lives

Rajj ke udeek de rab de ishaare
We eagerly await a divine sign

Kiss vele appa kholni hain baariyaan?
For when to open our windows

Kand vi ni tapni saaton apni
We won't be able to climb over our walls

Appa ainiyaan hi maarni udaariyaan

We will only leap so high

Hasrataan de kaidi nu kaid huyi pyaari

Imprisoned by our own dreams - we've fallen in love with imprisonment!

Rabba ki main karaan, vekh

Takda rawaan, ek

Mutthi aasmaan!

God, what do I do? Look at me

I just keep staring

At a fistful of sky

Likhni ch tere bade gham ne khayaali
Your writing has too much sadness, Khayaali

Loki paal dene kavita ch aasha
People come to poetry for hope

Enna nu vi dil ch hi rakhiyo sambhaali
Keep these lines too in your heart (don't say a word)

Paanve honda rave roz tamaasha

So what if the world is a circus?

Dig naiyo sakda jeda udne ton darda
He who is afraid to fly can never fall

Band saanu changi lagdi pitaariyaan

We prefer our treasure chests shut

Mohabbatan nu rakheya hai dil ch lukaake
We hide our loves deep in our hearts

Kunji assi sutt rakkhiyaan tijoriyaan

We've thrown away the keys to our safes

Tyaariyaan nu chukkan assi chukki hai tyaari

We are always getting ready to get ready

Rabba ki main karaan, vekh

Takda rawaan, ek

Mutthi aasmaan!

God, what do I do? Look at me

I just keep staring

At a fistful of sky
